Title: Aria

This dahlia is singing from deep within its petals bursting out with tips of magenta that deepen as they get larger and cascade down the bloom. I found this beautiful flower at the Butchart Gardens near Victoria, BC, a great destination for flower lovers.

"Aria" Is a hit with jurors! It is juried into the NWWS Waterworks show online April 28-June 30, 2022. Juror: Mike Hernandez and won a cash award. Last year it was juried into the 2021 CVG show for Washington State artists by juror Michael D'Alessandro. January-February in Bremerton, WA.

This painting is pure transparent watercolor on a full sheet of 300# Arches Cold Press paper with deckle edges. It is currently unframed and can be shipped in a sturdy 8" tube. The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art.

Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design.
